The 2030 Report | CEO Memo | June 2030
FROM: Macro Intelligence Unit TO: CEO, Board of Directors RE: Strategic Priority: Scarborough Acceleration, Data Center Partnerships DATE: June 2030 CLASSIFICATION: Confidential - C-Suite
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Woodside has extraordinary opportunity: LNG demand from AI data centers is creating structural demand growth. Strategic priority is accelerating Scarborough project and securing long-term data center customer contracts.
Capital Deployment (FY2030-2032): - Scarborough accelerated development: $25-30B capex (vs. planned $24B) - Browse Phase 2 engineering: $2-3B capex - Target FY2032-2033: 17-18 MTPA LNG production (from current 15.2 MTPA)
STRATEGIC PRIORITY 1: DATA CENTER CUSTOMER DEVELOPMENT
Secure long-term LNG contracts with hyperscalers for backup power generation.
Approach: - Develop 10-20 year contracts at $13-14/MMBtu (premium to spot for certainty) - Secure 2-3 BCF annual offtake from data center generators - Advantage: Stable, predictable cash flows vs. spot price volatility
STRATEGIC PRIORITY 2: ENERGY TRANSITION OPTIONALITY
Position Woodside as "energy transition partner" through: - Blue hydrogen projects (using LNG infrastructure) - Carbon capture & storage partnerships - Renewable energy integration
This hedges long-term LNG demand risk.
